Round table seating chart: how many people fit at each size
A 60-inch (5-foot) round table seats 8 comfortably and up to 10 (typical); a 72-inch (6-foot) round seats 10 comfortably and up to 12 (typical). We list our own 60-inch rounds at 6 to 8 and 72-inch rounds at 8 to 10, which leaves room for full place settings and a centerpiece.

Find the table’s diameter, then read across. “Comfortable” leaves room for a full place setting. The tight fit gives each guest 18 inches of table edge, which is how 10 end up at a 60-inch round: fine for a buffet plate or a short lunch, crowded for a plated dinner.

How many people at a 60-inch round table
8 comfortably, 10 at most (typical). Eight leaves each guest about 23.6 inches of edge, the snug end of what place-setting guides allow. Ten drops that to 18.8 inches, which works for a buffet or a short lunch. We list our 60-inch rounds at 6–8 guests, on the roomy side of the chart, so a plated dinner with a full place setting still fits.
How many people at a 72-inch round table
10 comfortably, 12 at most (typical). Our 72-inch rounds are listed at 8–10 guests. A 72-inch round seats two more than a 60-inch round and takes a foot more floor in each direction.
What size are round banquet tables
The standard banquet rounds are 60 inches and 72 inches (typical), with 66 inches (typical) at some venues. Ours are 60" and 72". Our bistro and cake tables come in 24", 30", 36" rounds for cocktail hour, the cake and the gift table.

How the numbers are worked out
Seat counts come from the table’s edge. Multiply the diameter by pi for the circumference, then divide by the width each guest needs. Place-setting guides allow 24 to 30 inches per guest (typical): 24 is snug, 30 is generous.

That is why we list our rounds where we do. Ten guests at a 60-inch round, or twelve at a 72-inch, leaves each person under 19 inches, which works for cocktails and dessert but crowds a plated dinner with a full place setting.
When a 72-inch round is the better choice
- Fewer tables for the same guests. For 100 guests it is 10 to 13 of our 72-inch rounds against 13 to 17 of our 60-inch rounds.
- More room in the middle for a tall or wide centerpiece.
- The trade-off is floor space and reach: each table is a foot wider, and conversation across it is a longer stretch.

Rectangular, banquet and head tables
An 8-foot rectangular table measures 8' × 30" (typical) and seats 8–10 (typical): four along each long side, and one at each end if the ends stay open. A head table that faces the room seats guests along one side only, so it takes about twice the length for the same party.
Long banquet tables come as rectangle, serpentine and 6-foot seminar tables. Serpentine sections curve a buffet or bar line around a corner.
