Our 60-inch round tables are listed at 6 to 8 guests and our 72-inch rounds at 8 to 10. Industry charts often quote 8 to 10 and 10 to 12 (typical); the lower numbers leave room for full place settings and a centerpiece.

How the numbers are worked out
Seat counts come from the table’s edge. Multiply the diameter by pi for the circumference, then divide by the width each guest needs. Place-setting guides allow 24 to 30 inches per guest (typical): 24 is snug, 30 is generous.

That is why we list our rounds where we do. Ten guests at a 60-inch round, or twelve at a 72-inch, leaves each person under 19 inches, which works for cocktails and dessert but crowds a plated dinner with a full place setting.
When a 72-inch round is the better choice
- Fewer tables for the same guests. For 100 guests it is 10 to 13 of our 72-inch rounds against 13 to 17 of our 60-inch rounds.
- More room in the middle for a tall or wide centerpiece.
- The trade-off is floor space and reach: each table is a foot wider, and conversation across it is a longer stretch.

Rectangular, banquet and head tables
An 8-foot rectangular table measures 8' × 30" (typical) and seats 8–10 (typical): four along each long side, and one at each end if the ends stay open. A head table that faces the room seats guests along one side only, so it takes about twice the length for the same party.
Long banquet tables come as rectangle, serpentine and 6-foot seminar tables. Serpentine sections curve a buffet or bar line around a corner.
